Shelton hosted the Olympus Rally from May 16 through 17, bringing Rally America and the national competitors to the dirt roads of Washington State.

David Higgins and Craig Drew drove their way into first place, using a 2015 Subaru WRX STI, with a time of 2:06:18.7, a nearly two full seconds under the runner up.

“I think the important thing is not to panic overly when things don’t go right,” said Higgins at the finish. “If something goes wrong it’s important to just keep your head down and go. We’re always trying to build a buffer so if something goes wrong you’ve got a little bit in the bank: that’s how it panned out for this one.”

Second place went to driver Adam Yeoman and co-driver Jordan Schulze, in a 2007 Subaru WRX STi, with a time of 2:08:08.0.

“What’s really encouraging for us is the overall pace: the gap to David is closing and it’s a big morale boost going into the second half of the season,” Yeoman said. He continued by saying the results at Olympus show how his privateer FY Racing team is moving in the right direction.

Third place went to Nick Roberts and Rhianon Gelsomino, with a 2:15:08.9, in their 2013 Subaru WRX STi.

“At this point we want to win the SP championship and there’s a lot of pressure on us for each of these next events because of our mechanical DNFs at the last two events,” Roberts said. “It’s an honor to be up here with these guys and their Open cars, with a Super Production car.”

Olympus Rally will be back in 2016 with more rally action. If you can’t wait until then, check out Mt. Hood Rally, sponsored by Rally America, Oct. 17 in Parkdale, OR., or Idaho Rally, sponsored by NASA Rally Sport, from June 13 to 14.
