The last vehicle of Run to the Sun that I drove was probably one of the most fun in an every-day sense. The Lexus GS-F combines the best of sports car and family sedan into one sports-rocket decked out in Caviar black.
The color glistens in the daytime like a gem, but its handling is rock solid.
Underneath the hood is a 5.0 liter V8 engine with direct and port injection, putting down 487 horsepower and 389 lb-ft torque. Connected to the Lexus GS-F’s engine is a blazing quick 8-speed direct shift transmission with flappy paddles for added input.
It’s also got a ‘F’ spec double-wishbone suspension in the front, multi-link in the rear, with Sachs sourced shock absorbers, making it respond like something with two fewer doors.
There’s a Brembo big brake kit beneath the Lexus GS-F’s 19-inch alloy wheels covered in staggered 255/35R19 front and 275/35R19 tires. Stopping comes quickly.
The interior hosts 10-way driver’s adjustment with ‘F’ Spec sport seats for the front two spots. The Alcantara trim was comfortable and looked good, too.
The 12.3-inch touchscreen hosts navigation, that took me right from the final stop at McMenamins Edgefield to the Portland International Airport.
It was fun in no traffic and it was enjoyable in full traffic. When it was time to get out of the Lexus GS-F, I didn’t want to. It was comfortable, stylish and a complete pleasure to drive.
